About Us

The kennel name Pencandy came from my foundation bitch and her daughter, 'Penny' and 'Candy' (pictured right) and we were originally based in the UK.
I first started in
Golden Retrievers in 1986 started breeding as a small breeder only a litter
every year or two. Then in 1997 I breed my first show bitch Majic (Pencandy
Mystical Majic) she was shown and gained her UK stud book number by winning Limit
Bitch in a very big class.
Majic is the mother of our Flick, (Pencandy Mystical Flick)

Vinnie (Burpham First Edition at Canina) was our first show male he did lots of winning including Best Puppy and Group 4 at one of his shows. He continued on his winning ways being placed every time he was shown.
I still show and
breed Golden Retrievers, and also started in Cocker Spaniels in 2002 with Shannon (Lochranza
Pavane with Pencandy) she too has enjoyed a fair bit of winning and since our
moved to Australia, Shannon has continued her success with very limited showing
due to settling in in the new climate and tending to maternal duties, with her
wins including 4th place in her class at the National in
Sydney in August 2006.

We all moved to Australia as a family in January 2005 we love our life in Australia and intend to stay here.
I was very much welcomed to
Australia
and Brisbane by a few people in the show ring who have all gone on to become
good friends,
Emma Clark - Naragold Golden
Retrievers who was also
relatively new to Qld from South Australia
Toni Dennis - Tarrendayle
Cocker Spaniels who has become a good friend & now in Bathurst NSW Jeani Tobler
- Sunlore
Cocker Spaniels another very good friend and is still living in Brisbane.
I
would like to thank all these people for making me so welcome in Brisbane as
things
are 'slightly' different in Australia compared to the UK.![]()
I would also like to say
Thanks to the UK people who helped me start off in Golden Retrievers, especially
Bob Silence
of Canina kennels for all his help and advise over the years and the use of his
stud dogs to help produce my wonderful Goldens.![]()
Jean and
John Gillespie
Lochranza for letting me have Shannon my first show Cocker Spaniel.
They are very kind and
have helped me to get into the breed. They have now joined up with Louise
Wilding
Jayzander Louise and Jean both run Lochranza who have now
produced my new English import Gregory (Lochranza Walkaround with Pencandy) a stunning black
dog and my first solid Cocker

thank both Louise and Jean enough for what they have done for me thank you.![]()

And also my best friend from
the UK Debbie Rodaway who was a true best friend to me and also helped me with
her professional help as a Groomer from Debonhair Dogs where I worked for a
number of years before leaving the UK. Both Debbie and Bob also helped heaps
with the purchase of my new puppy Gregory, Thank You Mate.![]()
I would also like to say thanks to Trevor, Ralene, Noel and Kym Kleahn from Kipparing for taking in Montey (Pencandy Likely Edition) who has turned out a wonderful dog.
We are now Australian Citizens and look forward to our future as 'Aussies'
